She came across the land on a dark desert night
Not a trace of a footprint in the morning light
Couldn't believe my eyes when I laid them on her

I look across at Billy, he could only stare
We both felt our bones chill in the still night air
Next thing I remember a coyote howl rang out
Was it the peyote or did the moon shout

The noise was deafening as I gazed to the ground
Is that cracks forming or a shadow coming down
